Flat Description:

Eaton Mews South House – A wonderful, well-located and beautifully kept 3-story Mews house available for short lets in Belgravia with many luxury amenities and details. Situated on a quiet cobblestone Mews street (shared with a few famous faces, it might be noted), the owners of this terrific house pay a great deal of attention to updating and keeping their property fresh, comfortable and inviting.

The tri-level layout and large sitting area make for an excellent division and use of space, with the ability for guests to hang out together or enjoy some alone time on different floors. Early risers can make coffee and breakfast in the ground floor kitchen/dining area without disturbing late sleepers on the top floor, yet everyone can spend time together in the large sitting room on the middle level.

Ground Floor: Kitchen/Dining Room (and Guest Powder Room)

The large eat-in kitchen/dining room is whimsical but practical and thoughtfully supplied. One enters into the dining area from the front entry, looking into the kitchen to the left and the hallway/stairs to the right.

The glass topped dining table seats 6 sits across from a wall mounted gas fireplace. The owners have wonderful taste in art and decor, there is always an interesting piece, element or item to look at, from the wallpaper to the frames on the wall.

The dining room is open to the large, elegant, modern kitchen, which has glass front cabinets and marble counters. There is a fridge/freezer, 6-burner gas stove, oven, dishwasher, microwave and even a built-in espresso maker, as well as a small TV and wired-in sound system.

Off the stairs to the right of the kitchen is a narrow guest powder room with toilet and smartly designed thin, rectangular sink. The round mirror in our photos has been replaced by a large, flat, wall mirror.

A cupboard holds the washer/dryer.

2nd Floor: Sitting Room and Study/Extra Bed

The generous, comfortable sitting room is upstairs and manages to feel both cozy and spacious at the same time, offering seating in the main part of the room, as well as a small reading couch in a little nook between the stairs and the study.

This area has two easy chairs, two large sofas, a fireplace, built-in cabinets lined with books and various pieces of art, and a TV with 200+ channels and a DVD player. A flat-screen television is wall-mounted on an extendable arm, making it a snap to adjust to different viewing spots.

The many-windowed room has French doors that open to small Juliet balcony overlooking the mews outside. This room absolutely fills with light during the day and is warm and cozy at night, particularly with the gas fireplace ablaze.

Off the sitting room, directly across from the stairs, is a small study with a single fold out bed cleverly stored behind a hollow wood frame, fashioned to look like a chest of drawers. Good for a teenager, an au pair, maybe the occasional offending snorer, it’s much more of a study than a bedroom, and probably wouldn’t suit everyone, like Grandma, for example. This room has a desk, computer, telephone, chess set, and a wall of great books for readers.

3rd Floor: Bedrooms/Bathrooms

Back to the central staircase and up the stairs to the bedrooms:

Master Queen en suite bedroom:
Antique 4-poster Queen bed, bedside tables, small antique chair, small flat screen TV and en suite bathroom with deep soaking tub,  shower stall and side-by-side sinks.

Twin en suite bedroom:
Two twin beds that can be pushed together or kept apart, large closets, and an en suite bathroom with brand new gorgeous shower room.

4th Level Roof Garden/Terrace:

Up a flight of stairs dividing the two bedrooms of this London vacation rental house is the marvelous roof garden terrace.  It is truly the cherry on the cake of this fine holiday home.

At the top of the steps is a doorway to the rooftop. To the right of the door is a small alcove with a mini-fridge and outside service for 8.  The landscaping has changed since our last visit, we will have new photos soon, though the feel of it is very well captured here in winter, and with some older photos that were taken in a nicer season on a visit a few years back.  The additional outdoor space is a delight, perfect for entertaining, or enjoying a relaxing breakfast,  tea time or take-away under the skies of London.

Location:

Just two blocks from the Kings Road, off Eccleston street. The nearest underground stop is Victoria Station, approximately a 7 to 8-minute stroll. The smaller and less bustling Sloane Square station is nearly as close, 9 or 10 minutes.

There are a great number of terrific pubs in Belgravia, some quite famous, actually, in which to enjoy a pint (or two) and a casual meal.  Belgrave Square Gardens, just a few blocks away, can be passed on the walk to Harrods, Harvey Nichols, or the museum district of South Kensington. In the other direction, Buckingham Palace and the palace Gardens are a nice and brief walk, as are Hyde Park, Parliament and Westminster Cathedral.
