Flat Description:

Efficient, clean, comfortable, romantic – a simply elegant self-catering studio rental flat in Chelsea with open plan layout and gracious airy feeling above it all, looking out over Chelsea and London beyond. A nice hotel alternative, the open studio floor plan and self-catering kitchen all wrapped in a luxury deco building with porter and elevator.

On the 6th floor (7th story) accessed via lift or wide staircase, with the main window facing the bustling Sloane Avenue many floors below (can’t hear traffic at all with the windows closed). This building full of long and short term apartment rentals is safe and well-located, in a well-trafficked but not overwhelming area, being just steps away from the bustle and busyness of the Kings Road & Sloane Square.

NOTE: If you select this studio flat at the Nell Gwynn apartments, this is the exact unit you will be staying in.  There are other agencies that advertise various flats in the building and you may or may not be guaranteed a particular apartment. This is not the case with Elegant Retreats – what you see with this simple and simply charming holiday rental is what you’ll get.

This nicely kept, attractive space is homey and comfortable. On one wall is a galley-style kitchen and china hutch with dishes and silverware. The kitchen is smartly presented, with a slim dishwasher, microwave, 4-burner electric range, small oven, and small fridge.

A black glass table and four modern leather and metal chairs visually breaks up the space between the kitchen and close-in seating area.

A two seater stuffed sofa and compact armchair with a deep seat frame a glass-top coffee table. There is a very large (older style) flat screen TV in the corner by the window, which looks out to the courtyard entry of the Nell Gwynn building and to the street beyond (some of the traffic from Sloane Street can be heard here, sort of a softer white noise rather than the typical soundtrack of a louder city location).

Small bedroom with large King/Twin split bed (it can be made up as a large 6′ King bed, or two single twin beds) and very good closet space, with mirrored doors. Side tables, small dresser, and a very slim window with piping beyond the curtains mean this bedroom is best for sleeping.

Flexible bedding arrangements make this flat perfect for two singles traveling together seeking affordable accommodations without having to snuggle into one double bed, as well as terrific for a couple seeking a spacious King bed in safe, comfortable surrounds.

The bathroom is well-kept and features a long, deep bathtub with shower-over-tub, basin and toilet. The washer/dryer is located in a cupboard just outside the bathroom.

This is a great position to explore both Chelsea and South Kensington by foot and underground travel. All the best of these London boroughs are at your fingertips.

The nearest underground stop is either Sloane Square about 6 minutes, or South Kensington, approximately an 8 or 9 minute stroll. There are an abundance of buses on the King’s Road, including some that will whisk you over to the tube stop of your choice, or many of London’s best sights.

Shopping, markets, movie theaters and specialty restaurants abound in this neighborhood, including the Chelsea Farmer’s Market, with chalet-style open air shops and al fresco dining daily, as well as the great local markets in South Kensington.

No pets, and no smoking allowed at this efficient and homey holiday short let flat in Chelsea.

Famous for its yearly horticultural gala in May, The Chelsea Flower Show, the area is part of London, but is its own self-contained universe as well, full of food, restaurants, theaters, galleries and excellent shopping. It happens to be a great location from which to explore the whole of London, as well.

There is no shortage of things to do in Chelsea. Some of the nearby attractions include the Chelsea Physic Gardens, Chelsea Embankment Gardens, Christ Church cathedral, The Chelsea Library, The National Army Museum, and National Trust sites like Oscar Wilde’s house, A.A Milne’s house and Thomas Carlyle’s House. Excellent shopping, museums (Victoria & Albert, Natural History, Science, National Portrait Gallery, The British Museum) and other popular attractions are all just a brief walk or a quick tube ride away in busy South Kensington. The West End theater district is a hop skip and jump down the tube line.

If you are craving a little plant magic but not visiting during the Flower Show, explore the area gardens, or hop on a bus on Fulhman Road and ride the 6 or 7 miles out to Kew Gardens in Richmond.
