Flat Description:

“Gorgeous and London-y” is what we wrote in our notes, stepping through the front door. Followed by “perfect views” and “modern, but not gracelessly so.” It features the sorts of details that offer just the right amount of personal touch, enough to feel homey and complete, without feeling like you are camping out in some else’s private space. This is YOUR home away from home.

Top floor flat – fifth floor, sixth story, with small elevator – featuring 2 double bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, and views over some of the best shopping in London. Light, bright, large, lovely and stylish holiday rental in a prestigious location, the open plan sitting room and large master bedroom lend the long apartment an air of penthouse style.

The decor is a thoughtful selection of modern classics and antique style – everything here is quite nice, and very comfortable. There is enough separation between the bedrooms to offer privacy for two couples traveling together, or for a small family. The large sitting and dining room provide a spacious central gathering place for vacationers to relax after a long day of touring, or perhaps to entertain local friends and family.

Elegant, clean and perfectly located, this is an exceptional London pied-à-terre to call home in the desirable neighborhood of Knightsbridge, overlooking the borough  – including Harrod’s – below.

ENTRY HALL & LAYOUT

Enter the flat into a bright foyer, with double doors leading straight ahead into the sitting room. At right of the front door is an entry table and large mirror, helping to lighten the interior space of the apartment.

Continuing to the right, behind the front door, is the hallway leading to the larger bedroom, across from the main bathroom, and a few steps further, down 8 stairs, to the second, smaller, ensuite bathroom. The hallway is lined with perfectly charming pencil drawings of historical fashion – they are great fun to take in.

LIVING/DINING ROOM
The furnishings in the good-sized, bright and open living/dining room are smart and comfortable. A 3-seat two-tone gray striped sofa witih orange accents, matching oversized armchair, and coffee table are all arranged in front of the built-in shelving and entertainment center. Wood floors, white walls, pretty artwork and windows with views over the London rooftops complete the feel of the room.

Adjacent to the sitting room is a large painted wood table with 6 comfortable chairs. There is a decorative fireplace and an antique writing desk, as well as two occasional chairs. Behind the dining table is a good size modern kitchen.

It’s very quiet here, with faint traffic noises seemingly muted in the distance, even though they are floating up from the busy street right below.

KITCHEN
The nicely equipped kitchen is spacious and very clean, adjacent to the living/dining room and fit with all the modern conveniences: slim dishwasher, stove, oven, fridge/freezer, microwave and a washer/dryer. Lots of counter space storage cabinets, and room for multiple cooks, as well as a wine rack, pull out pantry and many other nice details.

KING BEDROOM
The larger bedroom, located about halfway down the hallway behind the front door, is carpeted and features a 5′ 6″ King double bed, large built-in mirrored wardrobe and shelves, nice side tables and a good size flat screen television mounted to the wall. There is a beautiful painting of ballerinas hanging on the wall next to the bed. A bright window box with long floral curtains frames famed shopping mecca Harrod’s through its panes.

MAIN BATHROOM

Across from the King bedroom is the main bathroom. Good sized, with toilet, wash basin, marble floors and walls, spacious glass shower stall with power shower.

SECOND BEDROOM

At the back of the flat, down 8 slim, lighted stairs, is the smaller double bedroom, with ensuite bathroom. Cozy, comfortable, and featuring a standard 4 ‘ 6″ double bed, wall mounted flat screen television, and windows overlooking a historic house of worship called Harrod’s (ha ha?), as well as an actual church, it’s a lovely London viewscape through the window. The compact ensuite bathroom has a narrow bathtub with shower-over-tub, slim sink, and toilet.

Location:

The nearest underground stop is Knightsbridge, approximately a 5-minute stroll. Just down the block is the lovely St. Columba’s Church of Scotland. All the attractions of Knightsbridge, South Kensington, Belgravia and Chelsea are very close by. The area architecture makes for wonderful site-seeing while coming and going from this terrific self-catering flat.

The upscale shopping district of Knightsbridge offers feasts for your eyes as you come and go from this terrific vacation rental flat. With the food hall at Harrods just a few minutes away, you can feast your belly, too, trying a new kind of cuisine for every meal of your stay and still you could leave not having tried everything. The flagship Sainsbury’s market is close by, as is a terrific local Marks & Spencer “Simply Food” spot (wonderful!).

Restrictions:

No children under 10 years old at this time, please. Also, no pets, and no smoking allowed at this lovely holiday flat.

Rental Details:

Minimum 7 night rental. Additional nights will be pro-rated per night at the weekly rate.

Included in the rental price is the cost of heat & electricity, use of appliances, weekly linen change if staying longer than 7 nights, departure cleaning, and a Greeter who meet you at the flat to show you around, introduce you to the particulars of the property, the appliances, and answer any questions you have.

Check-In/Check-Out:

Check-in:  after 12pm, though sometimes earlier arrivals can be arranged.
Check-out: before 10:30am, though sometimes late check-out can be arranged.

Arrivals before 8:30am or after 4:30pm will require transfer service (car hire from the airport or train station) with our London transfer partners. Your driver will have the keys to your flat and will let you in. The Greeter will be by the following morning.

Security Deposit:

The property requires a security/damage deposit between £ 350 – £ 1000 to be held by credit card until after departure. The Greeter who meets you on arrival will return at departure to check you out of the property at the end of your stay.

Accessibility Notice:

The Pont Street 2-bedroom penthouse flat is on the 6th story (called the “Fifth Floor” in the UK) and there is a lift, however it is EXTREMELY tiny so plan accordingly – probably just one person, or a pile of luggage, can fit in at one time (we took one look and hoofed it up the stairs, about 90 steps total).

The flat itself is spacious and has one bedroom and one bathroom all on the same entry level. The second bedroom (with en suite bathroom) is down about 6 stairs from the main level. The flat is not perfectly suitable for those confined to wheelchairs (because of the small lift, primarily) but it otherwise quite a good option for travelers with limited mobility. The shower stall, however, is not wheelchair accessible and does not have a rail or handle bars.

Activities:

Knightsbridge is a great base from which to explore London. Close to all the nicest neighborhoods of Central London – South Kensington, Chelsea, Belgravia – and the home of Harrods, Harvey Nichols and multiple upmarket flagship and retail stores. This is a terrific place for shoppers. (Not a shopper? Regardless, the food hall at Harrods – which can be seen from the bedroom windows – should not be missed!).

Knightsbridge borders the South Kensington museum district, including the Victoria and Albert Museum, the Natural History Museum, Royal Albert Hall.

Hyde Park is steps away from the flat, the Knightsbridge underground station is a fast walk, about five minutes. The theater district, Picadilly Circus, Trafalgar Square, and incredible museums (National Portrait Gallery, The British Museum) are all just a quick tube ride away.
