Flat Description:

Cranley Mews: This is a lovely light and bright Mews house is situated in a charming row of very nice renovated London homes. Immaculate, with a generous and open living and dining room just a few steps up from the updated and good sized kitchen, the large front windows let in lots of light, and look out to the cobblestone street just outside the door.

Clean, comfortable, and in an incredibly popular location, the modern and airy vacation short let also benefits from being in very close proximity to two smaller flats just around the corner, sometimes able to be rented by groups of leisure or business travelers hoping to stay nearby each other.

Enter the house off the mews row, and walk into the stylishly decorated and open living and dining area, which is large, providing a spacious and bright gathering place for travelers to relax. Straight ahead is a spiral stair to the upper floor, and behind it is the dining table and a door to the right that leads into the kitchen. At the immediate right of the front door is a door into the second sitting/TV room.

In the main sitting room, tall ceilings, big windows and tons of light give the place a very mellow and why-don’t-you-have-a-seat-for-a-spell sort of sensation. There is a very comfortable sofa on one wall, two oversized wing back chairs next to a decorative fireplace, a large coffee table, low bookcase with a few books and printed materials, reading lamps and extra seating with the comfortable dining chairs in the open plan dining area.

The sitting room extends toward the dining area, where there is a good sized wooden dining table seating 6, with comfortable modern molded plastic seating and lovely backlit shelving on the wall behind the table.

To the right of the dining area is a door into the good sized kitchen, which is fully equipped with stove, oven, microwave, dishwasher, washer /dryer and fridge/freezer. Granite counters, dark wood floors white and gray painted wood cabinets and drawers.

There is a lovely window above the sink that looks out to the impressive period buildings and walled back gardens behind them, just beyond the entrance to the Mews row. Looks like a London portrait outside, really.

Also on the ground floor, to the immediate right of the front door is a second sitting room, the same length but more narrow than the main sitting area. It features an extra long and extra wide sofa – extremely comfortable and a bit snuggly with all the large overstuffed cushions – and a large wall-mounted flat screen TV.

As this room was once the car park (or the stables/horse park, really!), there are double archway doors that open out to the cobblestone mews street outside.

All of the bedrooms and bathrooms are located upstairs.

Master King En Suite Bedroom: At the top of the carpeted spiral staircase is the large master bedroom with King bed, with a walk-through closet and luxuriant ensuite bathroom with extra-large walk in power shower, two wash basins, toilet, and a pretty skylight that lets in lots of sunlight. The bedroom has very tall sloping ceiling, white walls, white furniture, including side tables and a vanity/desk with a chair, and a nice skylight responsible for the warmth and brightness of the room.

Shared Second Bathroom: To the left of the stairs and the the master bedroom are the two other bedrooms, between them off the landing is a mid-sized bathroom with walk-in power shower, sink and toilet.

Twin Bedroom: The moderate sized second bedroom is situated above the kitchen and has two twin beds in a T formation, with storage and a window overlooking the classic London architecture outside.

Single Bedroom: Moderate single bedroom with one twin bed, side table and small built in desk/vanity and good built-in storage space. There is a door off this room that opens to a small balcony that overlooks the cobbled mews street outside. This room has clearly belonged to a romantic young woman, with framed photos of Marilyn Monroe and Audrey Hepburn adorning the walls. This feels like a great room for hiding out, away from the rest of your group, listening to music or journaling about your trip, let’s put it that way.

The nearest underground stops are  Gloucester  and South Kensington, both are a quick 7 – 8 minute walk from the property.

No pets, and no smoking allowed in this light filled London perfect home away from home.

Also, renters should note that though this is a very quiet mews row with very little traffic, cars do drive down this lane, so guests of capabilities must be mindful when stepping outside into the narrow street beyond the front door.

South Kensington is a terrific place from which to explore London. Some of the attractions in close walking distance include the Victoria and Albert Museum, the Natural History Museum, Royal Albert Hall. The theater district, shopping and other museums (National Portrait Gallery, The British Museum) are all just a quick tube ride away.
